School Council

Welcome to our School Council Blog! Take a look at the latest updates below…

We are the School Councillors and we are actively involved in making decisions in school. We represent the ‘pupil voice’ of Clarendon. Our journey has developed in becoming a rights respecting school, has made us more aware of children’s rights, including the right to have our opinions taken into account in decisions that concern us. Our school council meets fortnightly with Mrs Homson as facilitator. Previously , two representatives are elected by each class annually, however, we now pick new representatives each term. As councillors we share ideas, interests and concerns with teachers and school leaders. We often help raise funds for school activities, including social events as well as helping people in need and supporting school.

What have we achieved?

We have raised money for Children in Need, donated lots of items to Urban Outreach, introduced suggestion boxes, met with parents for parents evening to discuss our role in school, identified key issues from the children in school and actioned these, and developed the role of School Council in School.

Our School Council are developing further actions in supporting the role of new children in school and how they adapt to our school life, continued support of our charities nationally and locally, and consistently looking at ways to support our school within the community.

We have a special event planned for summer 2. Come back soon to see what it is…

Bobby Heywood Park Litter Pick

This week, as part of Earth Day, we joined forces with other local schools in Bolton to take part in a litter pick at Bobby Heywood Park, which is next to our school. Lots of our families like to enjoy spending time in the park, but sadly there is sometimes a lot of litter. We spent time litter picking and managed to fill a massive 15 bags of rubbish!

Presenting our vision

Members of ECO Warriors led an assembly for the children and staff. They outlined their vision and goals for the year and shared what they had achieved so far.

Houses of Parliament

ECO Warriors, School Council and Miss Fedtschyschak were invited to visit the Houses of Parliament in London with other local schools. We travelled on the train and tube and had a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament as well as a walking tour of London. We learnt about how issues are discussed and decided in our country.

School Book Fair

We helped Miss Mallett out at our school book fair this week, suggesting books for families to buy and helping to keep the books tidy.

We have achieved the Investors in Pupils Award.

RED NOSE DAY

We also had a special red nose day where we all donated money to come in something RED!!!!

Passports for New Starters!!!

We have been busy creating Passports for our new starters in school. The school council created a booklet of all the things new children should know and the important places around school when they join our school. They can also take it home to share with their parents. So far the new children have loved this.

Children in Need!!!

Thank you so much for helping us raise money for Children in Need. We dressed in our own clothes to help raise funds.

FOOTBALL!!!!

We have been busy trying to organise football for playtime. We suggested having and training referees to ensure the game is played so everyone can enjoy it 🙂

Duty Bearers!!!

We decided that we wanted to know more about our governors so as part of our agenda we asked the governors to complete a profile about themselves and what they do. You will find this information in the duty bearer booklets in class.

Movie Night

We organised and delivered a movie night for years 1-6. We made nearly £200 for Derian House! Plus we all had a brilliant time!
